Job Title: Shipping Clerk
Department: Shipping – NDC
Supervisor: Shipping Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non Exempt
Hours :M-F 3:30PM-12:30AM
Summary:
The objective of this position is to provide clerical and office support for the shipping office. Shipping clerks may be working in the front window, back window, or export areas of the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Have knowledge of Stemilt fruit grades, varieties and labels.
- Answer phones from truck drivers, dispatchers, sales, etc.
- Give directions to drivers
- Verify truck drivers’ check-in sheets for pick-ups.
- Locate order and verify order is set up, ready to ship
- Verify and maintain records of orders actually loaded onto each truck.
- Monitor inventory screen and determine problem areas for resolution
- Copy sales orders and file accordingly
- Work with Sales department to resolve problems that arise
- Print pallet tickets for all purchased fruit
- Maintain CHEP inventory
- Double-check accuracy of all paperwork, including timecards
- Represent Stemilt Growers by providing good customer service to drivers.
- Assist other clerks as needed.
- Provide report to next shift regarding status of orders in the dock.
- Follow safety rules pertaining to all job duties
- Load information and arrange appointment schedule for loading, staging areas.
- Check in, allocate, and bill out trucks
- Complete export paperwork specific to country and customer requirements.
- Know export procedures for different countries, including variations in set up, loading and billing procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:
- GED or high school diploma; or 3 to 6 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other skills and abilities
- Knowledge of Washington State geography and the ability to provide instructions to truckers
- Ability to set and maintain goals maintaining attention to detail working with deadlines
- Oracle and Discoverer capabilities.
- Microsoft office knowledge; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Requirements:
- Must be available to work on weekends
- Flexible schedule required (may change as needed)
- Must have computer skills, including proficiency in Excel
