Quincy Spray Supervisor
Summary:
This individual will be responsible of making sure all spray recommendations are done in a timely and safe manner. Will be responsible for maintaining chemical inventory and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory and any records needed for food safety or organic programs
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Communicate spray application schedules to neighbors prior to application.
- Conduct spray applications in a timely manner and within the law.
- Enter and approve timesheets of sprayers.
- Organize and delegate responsibilities to spray team.
- Calibrate sprayers and maintain records of calibrations.
- Keep spray equipment clean and in working condition.
- Post 24hr notice and re-entry intervals.
- Maintain records needed for food safety.
- Maintain records needed for organic program.
- Inform of any changes to the recommendation to supervisor for approval.
- Maintain spray storage areas and fill stations clean and organized.
- Communicate spray plan with irrigation coordinator for watering scheduling.
- Communicate spray plan with crew bosses for REI or PHI issues.
- Maintain a monthly chemical inventory.
- Return unused chemicals to maintain inhouse inventory to a minimum.
- Conduct trainings (including but not limited to handler, PPE, application equipment safety).
- Organic and conventional application and cleaning records.
- Keep track of employee hours for Cholinesterase levels.
- Recycling of empty containers.
- Return bulk containers when empty to supplier.
- Maintain PPE equipment inventory.
- Deliver chemicals to spray fill stations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position directly supervises eight or more sprayers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include:
- Planning, assigning, and directing work
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Review and approve employee timecards; approve requests for time off.
- Conduct discipline and terminations as needed.

Education and/or Experience:
- Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and training.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of costumers or employees of the organization.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Have or be able to obtain WA State Private Applicators License
Other skills and abilities:
- Good leadership skills and excellent communication skills
- Ability to operate a tractor and sprayer
- Understanding of the equipment used for spraying.
- Understanding of measurements and safety labels for spraying products.
- Comprehension of spray recommendations; pest management; food safety program.
- Knowledge of the difference between organic and conventional production requirements.

- Willing to work long days with a shifting schedule
