Accounting Supervisor I $80-110K
Accounting Supervisor II $110- 130K

As Stemilt’s Accounting Supervisor (Orchard I or II) you will work closely with the Controller, finance leadership, and key members of the operating departments. The Accounting Supervisor (Orchard I or II) oversees accounting activities, personnel, and month-end accounting close processes in support of our Stemilt Ag Services group. This position supports four thousand Stemilters and therefore requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. We are looking for an eager individual to bring a fresh perspective of continuous improvement, innovation, and a team-oriented approach towards finding solutions and achieving success in the Finance department and the Company as a whole.
Additional Responsibilities
Accounting Supervisor – Orchard I
- Work with external auditors and tax preparers to provide required statements and information to complete the annual audit and multi-entity tax returns
- Key player in oversight of general ledger and financial systems, financial reporting, and accounts receivable and payables management
- Prepare and review financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, and variance analysis/bridge reconciliations
- Aid in the development, implementation, and monitoring of policies and procedures relating to financial management and accounting
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data
- Collaborate with FP&A in preparation of quarterly board reporting, financial forecasting, and annual budget cycle
- Collaborate and communicate with all other departments within the organization and the Stemilt Ag Services group
- Provide timely accounting information to Stemilt Ag Services grower clients, address questions, and maintain strong working relationships
- Supervise 1–2 accounting team members, including hiring participation, task assignment, mentorship, performance review, and salary recommendations
- Ad hoc reporting as needed
Accounting Supervisor – Orchard II
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and internal partners
- Oversee the full cycle of accounting functions, including orchard-level general ledger, consolidations, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management
- Key player in oversight of general ledger and financial systems, financial reporting, orchard entity consolidations
- Prepare and review financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and variance analysis/bridge reconciliations
- Lead variance analysis and provide financial insights to orchard operations and senior finance leadership
- Partner with IT and operations to enhance accounting systems, reporting tools, and automation efforts.
- Develop and improve accounting policies, controls, and systems to ensure compliance and efficiency
- Serve as the primary financial liaison to Stemilt Ag Services and external orchard partners.
- Responsible for supervising a professional staff of 1-3 personnel
- Integral in hiring process; mentors and advises; assigns and evaluates work; reviews performance annually; advises on salary
Experience:
Accounting Supervisor – Orchard I
- CPA and/or CMA credential a plus
- Ag/tree fruit industry experience a plus
- Experience supervising, reviewing, and improving processes and procedures
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders in oral and written form
Accounting Supervisor – Orchard II
- CPA and/or CMA credential required
- Ag/tree fruit industry experience
- Experience supervising, reviewing, and improving processes & procedures, as well as training and improving the performance of the accounting team
- Demonstrated leadership and strong stakeholder management skill set
Qualifications:
Accounting Supervisor – Orchard I
- BA/BS in Accounting and 3 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Accounting Systems/ERP (Oracle), analytics (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), Microsoft Office, integrative AI
- Direct and indirect tax knowledge a plus
- Strong analytical and project management skill set
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); knowledge of statutory accounting principles
- Strong understanding of inventory valuation methods, i.e., Lower of Cost or Market
Accounting Supervisor – Orchard II
- BA/BS in Accounting and 5 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Advanced knowledge of Accounting Systems/ERP (Oracle), analytics (Power BI, Tableau, etc.), Microsoft Office, integrative AI
- Direct and indirect tax experience
- Strong analytical and project management skill set
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); knowledge of statutory accounting principles
- Strong understanding of inventory valuation methods, i.e., Lower of Cost or Market
- Ability to interact and connect with all Stemilters and Executive Leadership
